Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the development of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. Analyze financial data and performance metrics to provide insights for strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements.

  • Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity by forecasting cash needs, optimizing cash utilization, and monitoring banking activities. Implement strategies to enhance working capital efficiency and minimize financing costs.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks facing the organization, such as market risks, credit risks, and operational risks. Develop risk management strategies and policies to safeguard assets and protect financial stability.

  • Financial Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data, prevent fraud, and comply with regulatory requirements. Conduct internal audits and reviews to assess compliance and effectiveness.

  • Investment Management: Manage investment portfolios, including cash investments, securities, and other financial instruments. Evaluate investment opportunities, assess risk-return profiles, and make recommendations for portfolio allocation.

  • Financial Systems Management: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial management software and systems. Streamline processes, automate routine tasks, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.

  • Tax Planning and Compliance: Develop tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and minimize tax liabilities. Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing tax returns, coordinating tax audits, and implementing tax planning initiatives.

  • Financial Modeling: Develop financial models and scenarios to support strategic planning, business forecasting, and investment analysis. Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning to assess the impact of changes in key variables.

  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, board members, investors, lenders, and regulatory authorities. Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities effectively to stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is typically required for Finance Manager positions. Advanced degrees such as an MBA or professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) may be preferred.

  • Experience: Substantial experience in finance or accounting roles, including managerial experience, is usually required for Finance Manager positions. Experience in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and strategic financial management is highly valued.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills are essential for Finance Managers to lead and develop finance teams, set strategic priorities, and drive organizational change.

  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills are necessary for interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and making informed recommendations for strategic decision-making.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical for Finance Managers to communicate complex financial concepts and analyses to diverse audiences, including non-financial stakeholders.

  • Strategic Thinking: Finance Managers must have the ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends, and develop long-term financial plans and strategies to achieve organizational goals.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills are necessary for Finance Managers to analyze complex financial issues, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions to address challenges and opportunities.

  • Ethical Standards: Finance Managers must uphold high ethical standards and integrity in their work, particularly when handling sensitive financial information and making financial decisions that impact the organization and its stakeholders.
