The Associate - Tax is responsible for supporting all tax operations including tax planning and strategy, transfer pricing and other tax policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Research on tax-saving strategies.
Participate in due diligence and structuring related to new openings, mergers and acquisition and divestures.
Support the process related to state and federal returns for companies within MAF Retail
Continuously perform a review of business transactions and advise on tax efficient ways to minimize tax exposure.
Well conversant with EFRIS.
Ensure that adequate documentation/data is created and maintained for tax planning and audit purposes.
Ensure accurate accounting entries for all the relevant tax accounts.
Ensure compliance to internal reporting requirements.
Support on tax audits and defend the company from tax risks raised from tax auditors by justifying the tax laws.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of all Tax Returns to meet regulatory deadlines and avoid penalties.
Qualifications and Experience
Certified Public Accountant Finalist
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting/Economics
At least 2 years of relevant experience
Knowledgeable in Uganda Tax laws and Tax accounting
Retail experience is a plus
SKILLS
Decision making skills with capacity to prioritize the actions and implement pragmatic solutions
Analytical skills
Attention to detail
Good communication, presentation and negotiations skills
Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
