Job Description
Manage documentary collections by ensuring timely receipt and release of shipping documents against payment or acceptance terms.
Duties and Responsibilities
Transaction Processing:
Letter of Credit (LC) Processing: Facilitate the issuance, advising, and negotiation of letters of credit (LCs) to ensure compliance with international trade regulations and terms agreed between buyers and sellers.
Documentary Collections: Manage documentary collections by ensuring timely receipt and release of shipping documents against payment or acceptance terms.
Trade Finance Documentation: Prepare and review trade finance documentation, including LC applications, shipping documents, bills of exchange, and certificates of origin.
Risk Management:
Risk Assessment: Assess and mitigate risks associated with trade transactions, including credit risk, country risk, and foreign exchange risk.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to trade finance transactions.
Fraud Prevention: Identify and prevent potential trade-related frauds and discrepancies in documentation.
Client Advisory: Provide advice and guidance to clients on trade finance products, services, and solutions that best meet their business needs.
Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, banks, and other stakeholders involved in trade finance transactions.
Conflict Resolution: Resolve disputes and issues related to trade finance transactions in a timely and effective manner.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Financial Analysis: Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other financial data to assess the creditworthiness of trade finance applicants and counterparties.
Reporting: Prepare reports on trade finance activities, performance metrics, and portfolio quality for management and regulatory purposes.
Market Research and Business Development:
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in international trade finance.
Client Acquisition: Identify and acquire new clients, particularly importers, exporters, and trading companies, to expand the trade finance portfolio.
Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, correspondent banks, and other stakeholders in the trade finance ecosystem.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, international business, or a related field. A master’s degree (e.g., MBA)or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) may be preferred.
Experience:
Professional Experience: Several years of experience in trade finance operations, preferably within a financial institution, bank, or trade finance department of a multinational corporation.
International Trade Knowledge: Deep understanding of international trade practices, regulations (e.g., UCP 600), and trade finance instruments (e.g., LCs, guarantees, collections).

Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit assessment, and risk management principles.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in reviewing and processing trade finance documentation.
