Job Description
The Accountant at Asaak will be responsible for the financial and accounting transactions of the company. He or She files taxes and manages financial accounts.
The responsibilities of the role are as follows:
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financials and provide insights and commentary.
Take ownership of Accounts Payable, accounts receivable and prepare various accounting records/GL supporting schedules.
Preparation of bank payments, reconciliations and lead communication with the bank.
Record and manage prepayments and accruals ledgers, ensuring accuracy of the timing of expenses
Participate in the stock taking of assets and assist the operations team with recording and tracking company inventory.
Maintain regular updates of the Assets register and the related depreciation schedules.
Manage monthly updates, handle petty cash-related issues for both Head office and branches, and receive accountabilities of funds.
Support the development of effective charts of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
Monitor the implementation of internal controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
Assist in audit preparation and managing the process.
Assist in filing all company taxes and other statutory requirements i.e. PAYE, NSSF, LST and income tax.
Review and provide technical updates of the Accounting Policies & Procedures Manual in line with the Asaak policies and procedures.
Prepare, examine and analyse accounting records, management accounts, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance), BBA (Accounting or Finance), Bachelor’s Degree in accounting & finance, microfinance or any related field majoring in accounting with at least level 2 of ACCA/CPA
Must have at least 3-5 years of working experience in Accounting and Financial analysis.
Must be detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be trustworthy and willing to take responsibility
Must have outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English)
Must have experience and proficiency in accounting software preferably QuickBooks.
Must have high levels of personal and professional integrity
