Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is an Italian organization engaged in the health sector in Sub-Saharan Africa and it operates in 8 countries (Angola, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Mozambique), where it delivers health programmes and expertise to help bring health services closer to the neediest and suffering.
In partnership with Christian Blind Mission, CUAMM in Uganda is starting a new project in West Nile named: Inclusive emergency initiative to strengthen health services and hygiene practices in refugee and host communities in West Nile, Uganda.
The project, which is funded by the Italian Government has the following results areas; R1: Access to integrated health services and basic health practices have improved among refugees and host communities in Terego district; R2: Hygiene practices of refugees and host communities in Terego district are strengthened, with special attention to women and people with disabilities; R3: Referral services for the most vulnerable groups are strengthened and actors present have the capacity to implement inclusive humanitarian intervention.
Job Description
Working closely with project managers, the Area Admin/Finance Officer will oversee the administrative management of the ongoing projects in the area, ensuring compliance with administrative and procurement procedures, preparing financial reports and supervising the management and maintenance of accounting by local accountants.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure proper documentation of expenditures and financial transactions for reporting purposes oversee accounting
Monitor projects’ expenditure and support project managers in planning and drafting periodic financial reports
Manage cash and bank accounts dedicated to the projects
Support project managers in preparing quarterly funding requests
Supervise admin and logistics national staff
Ensure compliance with procurement procedures
Guarantee that projects activities are properly documented
Support project managers in the administrative management of local staff and take care of their contracts
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Accounting, University Degree in Economics or equivalent title
Excellent knowledge of English
Excellent knowledge of Italian
Mastery in using accounting applications
Previous experience in admin/finance management of international cooperation projects in fragile countries and/or low resources settings
Adaptability to live and work in rural contexts
