Job Description
The Group Tax Accountant will oversee all tax-related matters, including preparing tax provision schedules, returns, payments, and reports, as well as maintaining the company's tax database. He/she will specialize in finding solutions to complex tax issues or errors arising from incorrect filings, identifying opportunities for legal tax savings, and recommending strategies to enhance profitability. Additionally, they manage the company's tax affairs and liaise with the Uganda Revenue Authority, providing financial information, analysis, and insights to support management decision-making."
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the relationships between the companies and external stakeholders including but not limited to ; Managing stakeholders like the URA, NSSF and Tax Advisors.
Lead the discussions with the URA and maintain a record of all correspondence between the companies and the URA.
Maintain the necessary transfer pricing documentation and perform routine checks to identify and mitigate transfer pricing risks.
Review the tax workings of the team prior to submission; and ensure that all returns are filed, and payments are made in a timely manner.

Manage the tax audits and health checks; ensure that gaps identified are closed within the agreed timeline; and follow-up implementation of the recommendations across the companies.
Review general ledger tax reconciliations and ensure that reconciling items are addressed in a timely manner.
Monitor the tax ledgers on the URA Portal and ensure that reconciling items are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
Assess and manage tax-related risks and develop risk mitigation strategies and recommendations for management.
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or another course of a numerate background but must have a relevant professional qualification – CPA or ACCA.
Five years’ experience in a professional audit firm or a manufacturing organization.
High level of analytical and attention to detail.
Good business acumen - understand business implications of decisions; and align work with strategic goals.
Good understanding of processes in different business areas.

Have the ability to identify and resolve problems on time.
