Job Description
The Interim Finance officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely execution of day-to-day financial operations in line with IIDC financial policies, procedures and operational requirements. The position holder also supports the Finance and Administration Manager in his/her absence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Budgeting
Ensure that expense categories are properly coded in line with approved operational/project budgets and the chart of accounts.
Develop and process activity implementation /execution budgets in consultation with relevant technical officers.
Managing and documenting payments
Initiate and process payment requests through the various approval processes.
Executing approved payments/ disbursements to staff, service providers, programme participants and partners.
Ensure that all financial transactions are properly and sufficiently documented and posted in the accounting system in a timely manner.
Ensure proper filing and safe custody of financial documents and information.
Support the Finance & Administration Manager and Head of Programs in reviewing accountabilities.
Manage the petty cash float and carry out petty cash counts
Statutory Compliance
Prepare statutory returns to the URA, NSSF, and Local Government in a timely manner.
Financial Reporting
Conduct month-end closure procedures that include but are not limited to; Bank Reconciliation, all ledgers' reconciliations, project transactions and analysis of BVA’s.
Support the Finance & Administration Manager in the process of preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management and donor financial reports.
Audit Preparation and support
Prepare for and support the annual audit processes.
Qualifications and Experience
A fully qualified professional Accountant (CPA or ACCA)
At least 8 years’ experience in a related job with a formal and credible organization most preferably an NGO
Available on a full-time basis for the duration of the assignment.
Able to efficiently and effectively work with QuickBooks without supervision is a must
