Job Description
As a Corporate Relationship Manager within the Corporate Banking Department in Uganda, you'll be responsible for managing relationships with corporate clients, understanding their financial needs, and providing them with tailored banking solutions
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform assurance and consulting engagement as assigned to assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of established controls and procedures.
Identify and assess risks for each auditable unit the bank and test the effectiveness and efficiency of the control design.
Participate in the design of the banks audit programs for existing and new processes, products, and services.
Prepare draft audit reports on findings, detected non-compliance with bank policies, procedural guidelines, and regulatory requirements for discussion with management and further submission to Head of Audit.
Obtain agreed actions after detailed discussion of audit findings and recommendations with department managers.
Review statutory/regulatory reports.
Conduct regular follow up of all open audit findings to ascertain adequate implementation by management.
Ensure compliance to regulatory guidelines and generally accepted auditing standards.
Follow up issues for closure in teammate
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA or ACCA) may be preferred.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in corporate banking, relationship management, or related fields within the financial services industry.
Demonstrated track record of success in building and managing relationships with corporate clients, preferably in Uganda or a similar market.
Strong understanding of corporate finance principles, banking products and services, credit analysis, and risk management.
Knowledge and Skills:
Deep knowledge of the Ugandan market, including industries, regulatory environment, and economic trends.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and decision-makers within corporate clients.
Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with the ability to assess clients' financial statements, evaluate creditworthiness, and structure financing solutions.
Proven ability to identify business opportunities, negotiate terms, and close deals that are mutually beneficial for the bank and its corporate clients.
Familiarity with a wide range of banking products and services, including loans, trade finance, cash management, and treasury services.
Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, as well as using banking software and CRM systems to manage client relationships and track performance.
Regulatory Compliance:
Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements in Uganda, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
Ensure all activities and transactions comply with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
Teamwork and Leadership:
Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including credit analysts, product specialists, and other members of the corporate banking team.
Leadership skills to effectively manage a portfolio of corporate clients, prioritize tasks, and coordinate efforts to meet clients' needs and bank's objectives.
Networking and Business Development:
Proactive approach to business development, including identifying prospects, cultivating relationships, and expanding the bank's corporate client base.
Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the bank's services and establish new connections.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda, such as Luganda, may be beneficial for building rapport with local clients.
