Job Description
Reporting to the head of finance the Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support short-term and long-term financial planning.
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis, to identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue growth, and profitability improvement.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on financial performance, highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations for senior management.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and insights for budgeting and forecasting processes.
Support the development of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts, ensuring accuracy, reasonableness, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Monitor and track actual financial performance against budgeted targets, investigating and explaining variances to facilitate decision-making.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs), to provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
Identify trends, patterns, and financial risks, and proactively communicate findings and recommendations to management.
Accounting for purchases
Accounting for inventory
Preparation of monthly financial statements and related group reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
A university degree in Finance & Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, Sustainable Development, or any other relevant field
Full qualification in ACCA or CPA
At least 5 years of progressive work experience in a senior financial role
Experience in planning and running external audits.
Experience with agribusiness supply chains or rural development.
Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong financial analysis skills.
Strong Excel skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.’
The preferred candidate must be tech savvy, entrepreneurial and business minded.
Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high quality and accuracy
Proficiency in accounting software especially advanced excel, Power BI, SAP.
Very enthusiastic, Self-motivated with a positive attitude
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have sound analytical skills.
