Job Description
The Treasury manager will handle the functions of tax and treasury to ensure effective planning and management of cash, minimize risk and implementation of controls in line with company policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Proactively identifies analyses ways to improve the cash cycle and where appropriate, makes recommendations for cost saving, propriety, and efficiency.
Analyses and reports on the weekly petty cash transactions and approves the cash counts.
Approves the daily reconciliation of cash, cheque, and online (RTGS/TT) deposits and actual receipts and cash counts before banking.
Ensures that the daily liquidity report (DLR) is accurate and circulated to schedule.
Ensure tax compliance within the operating company.
Approve allocation and de-allocation.
Oversee and approve reconciliations of Airtel Money accounts.
Manage cash drop processes.
Ensure that all bank account signatories and bank agents are up to date.
Prepare, obtain approval, and implement the necessary changes and updates in bank account signatories.
Manage the implementation of “online” banking and ensure that there are sufficient controls in place and that these are reviewed periodically.
Ensure that funds are held in optimum deposit or current accounts.
Manage the “outsourced” cash flow collection from the retail shops.
Manage the companies’ foreign exchange exposures, transactions, and negotiate “best rates”.
Negotiate and manage liquidity financing for dealers, staff, and the company as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional accounting qualifications like ACCA, CPA, ACA, CIMA will be an added advantage.
Postgraduate qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.
At least five years of experience in a busy accounting/tax office.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a tax authority or tax consulting environment.
Knowledge of the telecommunications industry.
Excellent knowledge of local tax laws.
Accustomed to working in fast-moving and changing environments and to deadlines.
